This website has been created to provide important information to the UI Health community regarding the status of workforce issues and negotiations between the University and the bargaining units representing health care workers at the University of Illinois Hospital.
UI Health and the Illinois Nurses Association (INA), the union representing its nurses, are currently negotiating a successor contract for registered nurses (RNs).
Negotiations began on June 9, 2020.
On September 1, the INA filed a 10-day notice of intent to strike for seven days starting September 12 with the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board (IELRB). The INA opted to strike for seven days but returned to work on September 19.
A tentative agreement was reached on September 23. Details of the agreement will be available following ratification by the union’s membership at an upcoming meeting, to be conducted by the INA.
