Update: Session 40
Negotiations resumed on a successor contract for the INA RN collective bargaining agreement. The parties met in person without the mediator.
The joint session began with UIC's lead negotiator presenting their counters related to on-call assignments, as well as health and safety. Then, the INA reasserted their proposals related to shift differential, weekend differential, incentive bonus, bilingual differential, parental leave, workday, scrubs, and budgeted positions. Then, they presented their counters related to preceptor differential, discipline, educational and professional opportunities. They also tentatively agreed to UIC's counter related to staff development. The parties returned to their caucus.
When they returned to the bargaining table, the INA presented their counters to health and safety, staffing, and reasserted their counters to the Paid Leave for All Workers Act, non-nursing duties, floating/pulling bedside RN, float team, nursing care committee, artificial intelligence, in-house registry, safe patient limits, and pandemic disaster. UIC's lead negotiator presented their counters related to workweek, discipline, certificate bonus, shift differential, weekend differential, preceptor differential, incentive bonus, bilingual differential, birth/adoption leave, workday, budgeted positions, and scrubs.
The parties coordinated for the next bargaining session and returned to their caucus.
