Update: Session 37
Negotiations resumed on a successor contract for the INA RN collective bargaining agreement. The parties met in person with the mediator present.
The joint session began with UIC's lead negotiator presenting their counters related to vacation availability, on-call wages, shift differential, preceptor differential, weekend differential, certification bonus, bilingual differential, birth/adoption leave, educational and professional development, workday, scrubs, non-nursing duties, budgeted positions, discipline procedure, staff development, in-house registry wages, artificial intelligence, safe patient limits, and float team, acuity plus, floating/pulling, and sick leave.
The INA then presented their counters related to charge differential, on-call assignments, workweek, nursing care committee, ambulatory assignments, grievances, and pandemic side letter. Then they withdrew their proposal related to notification to the union. The parties discussed the current tentative agreements and returned to their caucus.
Back in joint session, the INA presented their counters to health and safety, on-call wages, shift wages, weekend wages, preceptor differential, certification bonus, incentive bonus, bilingual differential, schedule, birth/adoption leave, educational and professional development, workday, scrubs, non-nursing duties, disciplinary process, and staff development. Then, UIC's lead negotiator presented their counter related to staffing. The parties coordinated for the next bargaining session and returned to their caucus.
