Update: Session 25

Negotiations resumed on a successor contract for the INA RN collective bargaining agreement. The parties met in person with the mediator present.

The joint session began with the INA presenting their counter related to float differential. UIC’s negotiator and team asked questions to further understand the issue. Then, UIC’s lead negotiator presented their counter to INA’s proposals related to float team, floating/pulling, staffing, and staff development. The parties returned to their caucus.

Back in joint session, UIC’s lead negotiator lead a conversation about floating tracks and concerns from their membership where relayed to management so that they could better understand how to address the issue. Then, the INA presented their counters related to certification bonus and staffing. The INA then reasserted their counter related to nursing care committee. UIC’s lead negotiator presented their counter to INA’s proposals related to the low census and reasserted their position to counters related to vacation availability, schedule, additional work and overtime assignments, in-house registry, shift, workday, workweek, parental leave, holidays, and artificial intelligence. The parties coordinated for September bargaining sessions through October 3, 2024.
