Update: Session 24

Negotiations resumed on a successor contract for the INA RN collective bargaining agreement. The parties met virtually with the mediator present.

The joint session began with the INA presenting their counter related to floating/pulling, health and safety, education/professional development, governance of sick leave, sick benefit abuse, schedule, charge differential, and preceptor differential. Then the INA reasserted their position related to acuity system, vacation accrual, low census, additional work and overtime assignments, in-house registry, parental leave, holidays, non-nursing duties, grievances, and artificial intelligence.

UIC’s lead negotiator presented their counter to INA’s proposals related to float differential, ambulatory services, the nursing care committee, certification bonus, and flexible scheduling. Then, UIC’s lead negotiator reasserted proposals related to shift, incentive bonus, vacation availability, holidays, special leave, and grievance. The parties then returned to their caucus for the day and continued to work on proposals.
