UI Health and the INA met for a full day of bargaining at which FMCS mediators Steve George and Kevin Farrell were present. UI Heath presented a detailed summary of proposals from each side and explained its position on all open INA proposals. UI Health also presented a package proposal encompassing articles VIII (Discipline) and IX (Labor Management Conferences) and a proposal related to vacation payout (Article V S. 5). Debbie Lewis, UIC Compensation Consultant Specialist, joined UI Health’s bargaining team and explained data showing that UI Health Nurses are in the top 10% in pay for nurses locally, statewide and nationwide. The INA then presented a counterproposal slightly decreasing their economic demands. s. The INA rejected any incentive pay based on nurse quality indicators that had been part of UI Health’s comprehensive economic proposal. At the conclusion of the day the parties agreed to increase meeting times by two hours.
