Update: Session 17
Negotiations resumed on a successor contract for the INA RN collective bargaining agreement. The parties attempted to meet in person again, but due to extenuating circumstances the parties met virtually with the mediator present.
The joint session began with the lead negotiators determining how the day would proceed; both parties decided to continue in caucus until the afternoon. Debbie Lewis, Director of Compensation, presented information related to budget analysis and reviewed how the organization is doing in comparison to other Chicagoland hospitals and clinics. When she concluded the review, the INA bargaining team asked questions related to the budget and where the University falls in line with other area hospitals, upon conclusion, the parties then returned to their caucus.
Upon return to the bargaining table, UIC’s lead negotiator countered INA’s wages proposals related to call-back, overtime, charge differential, shift differential, and overall across the boards. The INA bargaining team asked their questions to UIC’s lead negotiator. The INA negotiation team proceeded to present their counters, many of which were passed with no change. The counters were related to the nursing care committee, staffing, and personal protective equipment. Upon completion of the presentation, the parties then returned to their caucus for the day.
