Update: Session 15
Negotiations resumed on a successor contract for the INA RN collective bargaining agreement. The parties met in person on August 8, 2024.
In the joint session with the mediator, UIC presented four counters to INA’s proposals related to discipline procedures, shifts, governance of sick leave, and side letter regarding the definition of suspected abuse of sick benefits. The INA re-proposed seven proposals related to the flexible schedule program, special leave, grievance procedure, holidays, clinical nursing consultants II, bargaining unit negotiations team, and their new proposed section related to union notification. The INA also re-proposed one proposal without language changes related to the nursing care committee. The parties then returned to their caucus.
Upon return to the bargaining table, UIC presented their counters to three of INA’s proposals related to staffing, acuity tool/system, and safe patient limits for hospital-based units. The parties coordinated their next meeting time and caucused for the rest of the session.
